classic chocolate chip cookies.

I realize that it is kind of crazy to have two dessert recipes in one day, but that is just how many I baked today. I woke up with a major baking bug, and even though it was 96 degrees here in Portland today and not such a good idea to keep the oven on, it felt great to be in the kitchen baking with the back door open.

After finishing my tart, Alice and I took our usual walk over to Stumptown for coffee and cookies. Since I was only able to steal a small bite of my son's cookie before he completely gobbled it up, I was left wanting more. And so I baked up a batch of chocolate chip cookies from the classic Joy of Cooking cookbook and let me tell you, they were perfect. It is just such a flawless cookie recipe. The only change I made was adding white chocolate chips in replacement of the nutmeats, which ended up being quite tasty.
